Jeff
Vallone

Jeff Vallone,
a.k.a DJ J-Ron, from Rochester, NY, started his turntabalist career
by imitating the early DJ's of the day. You could see him (in between
turns windmilling on the cardboard) imitating Grand Mixer DST's
scratches on "Rockit" by Herbie Hancock, or Grand Master
Flash on "Beat Street Breakdown", or "Itchin' for
a Scratch" by UTFO. He began honing his turntable skills at
an early age on his Fischer-Price record player. His records of
choice then were Disney's Read-a-long series with Robin Hood, The
Arisotcats, and Fox and the Hound. Every once and a while he'd throw
in some "Song of the South", "Chipmunks Christmas",
or even "22 Holiday Favorites". Scratching soon took the
backseat to cartoons and was forgotten until September of 2003 when,
after years of annoying his friends for years with boisterous claims
that he was FINALLY going to get a turntable and learn to scratch,
he did. A year and some later Jeff has handed The Grift's bass reigns
to Mr.Day and has begun his full time position as Turntablist/Keyboardist/Minister
of Noises and Sounds/Secretary of Keepin' it Real/Doodadist (--we're
working on a name for what I actually do). Jeff is happy to answer
any questions regarding his ever evolving set up, just email him
through this site.
